The Biosphere as a Biogeomeride and Its Biotope
نویسنده
چکیده
The concept of a geomeride proposed by V.N. Beklemishev in 1928 and subsequently mistakenly forgotten is of basic significance for the development of the biosphere doctrine, global ecology, and stratigra phy. In the article, notions “biosphere,” “living matter,” and “geomeride” are discussed. The specified term “biogeomeride” is proposed to emphasize the significance of the living constituent of the biosphere in its biodiversity.

1 ABSTRACT In this paper, we discuss the Digital Earth concept and scale issues regarding landscape planning visualisation, and we present the interactive visualisation system Biosphere3D. The visualisation system supports multiple scales on a virtual globe, and is focussing on real-time rendering of vegetation, similar to the predecessor Lenné3D-Player. In this paper we describe the visualisat...

Given the importance of availability sufficient and accurate information on the structural characteristics of mangroves to develop conservation and restoration programs for these ecosystems, this study investigates and maps the structural characteristics of the coastal and island forms of the mangroves in the Hara Biosphere Reserve. To this end, through a field inventory (32 sample plots with t...

The argan tree is a slow growing tree exclusively endemic in the dry lowlands of Southwest Morocco. The argan forest constitutes a long time ignored specific biotope that has been declared a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1998. The argan forest is particularly fragile to climate change. Forecasts show annual precipitation levels and prolonged drought periods that could severely threaten the fut...
